Investments, growth and entrepreneurship – Arto Satonen got to know the companies in Ikaalinen!
Ikaalisi received a welcome guest today when MP Arto Satonen visited local companies, Purso Oy's Ikaalisten Sulatto and Toivolansaari Camping, with city representatives.
Purso is an excellent example of an industrial company investing heavily in Ikaalinen. The company has invested 15 million euros in the Ikaalinen unit in recent years, strengthening the region's industrial competitiveness, jobs and future growth prospects. The investment demonstrates a long-term commitment to the locality and domestic production.
Toivolansaari Camping, on the other hand, shows what determined entrepreneurship can achieve at its best. The tourist destination has developed impressively thanks to the entrepreneur's bold vision, and continuous development work increases the area's appeal and offers new experiences for both tourists and locals.
The visit provided a good overview of how both significant investments in industry and entrepreneur-led development in the tourism sector are building the vitality and future of Ikaalinen.
Thank you to Arto Satonen for the visit and to the people of Purso and Toivolansaari for the warm welcome. ... Show moreShow less

The Meida Duo performed at Ikaalinen's last market day concert of the year today, Wednesday, August 12th at 12.8 noon at Ikaalinen Church. The concert was organized by Ikaalinen Parish. 🎻🙂
Our Duo consists of violinist Maria Turunen and cellist Eero Vahtola.
The concert featured gems from film and game music as well as favorites from Meidän Duo, from classical to pop. The energetic string duo, founded in Tampere in 2023, combines a love of ensemble playing and classical music with a curiosity for bold, genre-breaking performances. 🎶
Here's a little clip of the duo playing. 🎥🎻
Thank you to everyone who attended the summer market day concerts, to the parish for organizing the concerts, and to all the musicians who performed in Ikaalisi during the summer for the musical moments! 🙂💛🎶

Clinking, buzzing, bubbling and chatting can be heard from the city center – which means that the market day on the second Wednesday of August will be celebrated in full swing today, August 12.8th, at Ikaalinen Market Square until around 14 p.m. ☀️🛍️🙂
Familiar faces can be seen everywhere, both among the vendors and visitors, and the stalls offer buns, fish, vegetables, baskets, clothes, shoes, household products, coffee, pea soup, pancakes, flowers, meat and sweets – just like a market day. 🥕🐟☕🍓
We asked visitors for their opinions about the market and why Kirkkokatu 1 is such a popular address on Wednesdays.
“You can see people here! You can chat, and we'll come back again and again, weather permitting,” says Pena, who is sitting in a market café chatting with friends. ☕
Esa and Marja-Liisa Kantti stroll around the market, which is just around the corner for them on Wednesdays.
"We just went to eat! It's black sausage day. We live right behind the bush. The market is a nice place – you meet people you know, you can sit and chat," Esa says.
The market also features Kim Mattila, who served as the Ikaalinen market leader from 2021 to 2026 and is known for Finnish Accordion Instituteas the leader of that accordion in hand from many concerts around the city. 🪗
Kimmo stops at a stall to buy potatoes and berries and leaves with a smile, carrying his purchases. 🥔🫐
Come and visit the market if you're nearby – today or on other Wednesdays throughout the year! Ikaalisten Market is open on weekdays until around 2:00 PM, at Kirkkokatu 1. 💚
