THE VILLAGE ASSOCIATION WORKS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE VILLAGE COMMUNITY

The Tevaniemi Village Association was founded on July 13, 1998 and was entered in the register of associations on October 6, 1998. The Tevaniemi Village Association continues the activities of the Tevaniemi Village Committee, which has been operating for 12 years.

The area of the Tevaniemi Village Association includes the villages of Tevaniemi, Miettinen and Kallionkieli (+ the Heinistö and Sorvanperä areas). Teva is old Finnish and means male moose. Tevaniemi is therefore a very appropriate name given to the area by ancient wilderness men.

The Village Association maintains the Tevaniemi Rural Community Center as a village hall (transferred to the Village Association in 2017). The association organizes joint events, including a beach event and a Christmas opening.

The village association is active in youth activities with the city of Ikaalinen, the Ikaalinen Evangelical Lutheran parish, 4H and MML. The association actively participates in various forums and projects, including the Villages Across Municipalities activity and the fiber optic project.

All villagers are welcome to join the village association. We especially welcome all new residents.

To finance the activities, volunteers participate in volunteer work and rent the village hall, furniture, and equipment.

The association aims to increase the recreational and cultural activities, cooperation and independence of the residents of its area and to contribute to the creation of more jobs, services and housing in the area. As a representative of the residents of its area, the association aims to influence and participate in the planning and decision-making of the area.
