Family Liukkonen

Hey!

We are Joni and Reetta Liukkonen. In addition to the two of us, our family also includes two adult children who have already moved to another city to pursue their university studies.

We moved to Ikaalinen about twenty years ago for work and we have always enjoyed our stay here. From the beginning, we have found it easy to come here and have felt welcome here. At first, we lived in a rental in the city center, but soon we found our own, cozy house on the edge of the forest, yet close to the city center. Being close to nature is one of Ikaalinen's absolute trump cards, with greenery visible from the windows in every direction and the lake glimmering behind the forest.
There is room to breathe and opportunities for activities in Ikaalisi. Beautiful cycling and jogging landscapes are within everyone's reach, and the mighty Kyrösjärvi offers not only stunning views but also great opportunities for boating, kayaking and many other hobbies.

From our perspective Ikaalinen is also great in terms of location. We both work at the SASKY Education Joint Municipal Authority (Sasky) and from Ikaalinen it is convenient to move between the joint municipal authorities' different offices and remote work at home also works great if necessary.

From the perspective of families with children Ikaalinen is a safe place to live. The advantage of a small town is that people care about other people's affairs and don't just focus on their own interests. The town offers good recreational opportunities for both young and old, for example in music and sports - the youth orchestra Ikaalisten Nuoriso-orkesteri, the Ylä-Satakunta Music Institute, a youth centre, scouting, sports clubs, a modern and well-functioning gym, the magnificent Villa Vihta on the shores of Lake Kyrösjärvi and many other activities.

Ikaalinen is also a vibrant educational city. Primary school students get to study at a recently built magnificent log school and secondary school is held in beautiful lakeside settings. The secondary education offering in Ikaalinen is very extensive considering the size of the city. Sasky's IDEA campus is a modern learning environment where vocational education and upper secondary education meet. There are a total of 22 educational fields on the campus and there are approximately 700 students.

We have met many wonderful people in Ikaalinen and made important friendships. Getting around in Ikaalinen is uncomplicated and relaxed, it is easy to talk to people you don't even know in the store. Doing business with companies in Ikaalinen is easy and hassle-free, people are trusted and keep what has been promised and agreed upon.
