Environmental permits

The environmental permit is required by the facilities and activities specified in the Environmental Protection Act. Environmental protection law

– No new activity may be started or existing activity may be continued with substantial changes without a legally binding decision.

Environmental permit application must be done well in advance of the planned start of operations. The building permit is processed after the environmental permit.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

According to the Environmental Protection Act, certain activities that cause environmental harm must be reported to the Environmental Permit Authority or the supervisory authority. These activities include:

• Reporting activities using volatile organic solvents to the environmental protection information system
• Reporting a port to the environmental protection information system
• temporary noise and vibration
• experimental activity
• exceptional situations
• cleaning up contaminated soil and groundwater.

In addition, a notification can be made instead of a permit application for the utilization of certain waste in earthworks.

New general notification procedure for animal shelters and certain other activities under the Environmental Protection Act

Matters concerning activities that are transferred to the new notification procedure are initiated by the authority with a notification instead of a permit application. Notifications are submitted using industry-specific forms, which can be found on the Environmental Administration website:

Notification according to the Nitrate Regulation (manure composting notification)

The Government has issued the so-called Nitrates Regulation (931/2000) on limiting the entry of nitrates from agriculture into water. The regulation contains provisions on, among other things, the minimum size of manure storage facilities, any deviations from this and the measures to be taken in such cases. from the control notification, i.e. the so-called battery notification, manure and fertilizer application times and nitrogen amounts, buffer zones, walking areas and manure heating. In addition, the regulation contains various other provisions and recommendations.
