Environmental protection regulations
The aim of environmental protection regulations is to prevent environmental pollution, taking into account local conditions, as provided for in the Environmental Protection Act.
Compliance with environmental protection regulations is monitored by the municipal environmental protection authority, which in the city of Ikaalinen is the Environmental Protection Board. The environmental protection authority may delegate its decision-making powers under these regulations to a subordinate official.

The guide describes structural solutions that can be used to prevent possible leaks or chemically contaminated firefighting wastewater from entering the soil, water or sewers. The structural solutions presented in the guide are based on legislation, standards, official guidelines and general good practices.
