Parliamentary elections 2023

According to the Finnish Constitution, state power in Finland belongs to the people, who are represented by the Parliament, which meets in the Riksdag. The Parliament consists of 200 members of parliament.

Members of Parliament are elected every four years through direct, proportional and secret elections. All Finnish citizens who have reached the age of 18 on election day are eligible to vote.

Election day for the 2023 parliamentary elections is Sunday, April 2.4.

Other important dates:

• Candidate applications must be submitted to the electoral district committees: no later than Tuesday, February 21, 2023, before 4 p.m.
• confirmation of candidate nominations in electoral district committees: Thursday 2 March 2023
• Registration for home voting ends: Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 4 p.m.
• Early voting in Finland: Wednesday to Tuesday, March 22–28, 2023
• Early voting abroad: Wednesday to Saturday, March 22–25, 2023
• Election Day voting: Sunday, April 2, 2023, 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
• confirmation of results: Wednesday, April 5, 2023.
