Reading diploma

The purpose of the reading diploma is to inspire children and young people to try new reading experiences. The recipient of the reading diploma reads a certain number of books selected from a list and demonstrates that they are familiar with their content.

When a class has notified the library that they are completing a reading diploma, the diploma books can be placed on a separate shelf in the library. The books can be borrowed by everyone, including those who are not completing the diploma.

A reading diploma can

• awaken and maintain a love of literature: I read an entire book! Tomorrow I'm starting a new one...
• gives experiences and arouses emotions in the reader: Reading is fun, even if sometimes you need a handkerchief...
• introduce different genres of literature: Once upon a time – fairy tale, creeping suspense, creepy horror, hilarious humor, timeless classics, wild fantasy…
• to increase general knowledge: I didn't even know that before...

The teacher will provide the necessary instructions for completing the diplomas at school and instructions are also available from the library. The home's task is to encourage the child to read and help him find books to read. You can check the availability of books in the library from the PIKI online library.
