Ikaalinen City Library is part of the PIKI libraries, or Pirkanmaa libraries. Our customers can use the same library card in all Pirkanmaa libraries.

Below are a few more details regarding the Ikaalinen City Library on the above-mentioned issues.

Borrowing, returning and renewing

Borrowing and returning takes place at the service desk.

You can drop off items at the drop-off point (located approximately 15 meters to the left of the main entrance) when the library is closed. Please note that items dropped off at the drop-off point during library opening hours may not be processed and returned until the next opening day.

The library also has a lending and return machine that can be used during self-service hours. In this case, the return will be registered immediately.

You can renew your loans five times if there are no reservations or your payment history has not exceeded the lending ban limit, which is €15 according to the usage rules that came into effect on January 1, 2019.

The loan due date ends during library opening hours, online at the end of the day. Loans can be renewed in the PIKI online library, at the library on site, by phone (044 073 0133) or by sending a request by email to kirjasto[at]ikaalinen.fi. To renew, you will need your library card number and, in the online library, a four-digit PIN code.

Reservations

Materials on loan can be reserved. Once returned, the materials will be forwarded to the person who reserved them in the order in which they are placed.
You can make a reservation at the library service desk or in the online library. In the online library you will need a PIN code in addition to your library card number. You can get your PIN code from any library in Pirkanmaa.

Reservations from Ikaalinen City Library collections are free of charge. Regional reservations from other Pirkanmaa libraries cost 2 €/reservation.

The reservation is paid when the material is picked up. The customer will be notified of the arrival of the reserved material in the manner of their choice, which will be explained in more detail in the PIKI online library. A non-pickup reservation of the Ikaalinen collection will be charged 2 €/reservation (as of January 1, 2025). A non-pickup reservation of the regional collection costs 2 €/reservation.

Interlibrary loans for private customers

If the publication cannot be found in PIKI libraries, the material can be ordered for the customer from elsewhere as an interlibrary loan.See instructions and information about fees related to interlibrary loans.If you would like to place an interlibrary loan order at Ikaalinen City Library, please visit the library on site or contact us by phone (044 073 0133) or by email atkirjasto[at]ikaalinen.fi.

Interlibrary loans for libraries

Starting January 1, 2025, Ikaalinen City Library will charge €10/interlibrary loan, which will be invoiced to the subscribing library afterwards.
