Self-service time in the press room

The readingroom's self-service hours were introduced on September 1.9.2021, XNUMX.

You can use the readingroom independently:

The customer must leave the readingroom at closing time.

During self-service time, make sure that the front door is locked. (The intermediate door of the wind cabinet is not locked.)

To use the library, customers need their own library card and associated PIN code. These can be obtained from the library's customer service.

The readingroom has recording camera surveillance and an alarm system.

There is a login device outside the library that opens the library door for customers when they show their library card to the device and enter their PIN code.
Note! Each customer logs in with their own library card and is therefore responsible for the proper use of the library.
Inside the readingroom there is a lending machine that also works with a library card and PIN code. You can use the machine to borrow magazines and return other loans. Computers are available.
Morning newspapers (Aamulehti and Helsingin Sanomat) can be read in the library. On days when customer service is open, clerks collect the newspapers, but at other times, the first customer to arrive at the readingroom can collect them from the mailbox outside the library. The mailbox key can be found in a basket on the flower table, where it is also returned. The newspapers are left in the designated place on the newspaper shelf.
The self-service library has the same rules of use as any other library. The customer has committed to following the rules of use of PIKI libraries when signing the library card.
Other customers must not be disturbed. Keep the readingroom tidy.
