Preschool education is organized 19 hours per week, mainly Monday-Friday from 9:00 to 13:00. Preschool education is free of charge.
If a preschool student needs activities that supplement preschool education outside of the above-mentioned time, we ask that you request it when registering for preschool education.
In daycare centers, activities that supplement preschool education are called supplementary early childhood education. In regional schools, families can choose from supplementary activities as part of the school's morning and afternoon activities. Applications for supplementary preschool education are made using the same form used to register for preschool education.

When choosing the hour scale, you must take into account the free preschool time, which is currently 19 hours/week. This means that preschool time is not included in the hour scale.
Decision on activities supplementing preschool education
The family will receive a decision approximately two weeks before the start of the activity. The place must be received via an electronic form. accepting a place
After the decision is made, the start date of the activity supplementing preschool education cannot be changed.
You will receive the decision electronically if you have accepted to receive electronic messages on the suomi.fi website. The electronic decision is available to read on the suomi.fi website as soon as the decision has been sent electronically. Suomi.fi will send you a notification of the new decision by email. If you have not accepted electronic communication from authorities, you will receive the decision by letter within approximately seven (7) business days of the decision being sent.
