Luhalahti is not just a village – it's a home.
Luhalahti is a warm and green village in Ikaalinen, Pirkanmaa, near Tampere. Here, beautiful landscapes, a peaceful everyday life and an active community come together – exactly the things that many of us miss in our lives. Luhalahti offers its residents a sense of spaciousness and community.
The wider Luhalahti region includes villages from Juhtimäki, located next to Seitseminen, all the way to Isö-Röyhiö on the shores of Lake Kyrösjärvi. Today, the village center is considered to be Luhalahti-City, located in the Huopionkoski rapids.
The history of the villages on the eastern side of Lake Kyrösjärvi dates back to the Iron Age. At the end of 2023, the Luhalahti region village book was completed, which extensively covers the history of the villages of Iso-Röyhiö, Heltee, Luhalahti and Sipsiö. The high-quality, over 400-page work was completed entirely as volunteer work by the villagers over a period of just over ten years. In 2008, Luhalahti was chosen as the village of the year in Pirkanmaa. In recent years, Luhalahti has been heavily in the headlines, for example, due to the village school fight.
We recommend taking a detour from the main road to the east side of Lake Kyrösjärvi. For those who are on the route for the first time, the eyes and mind will rest in the idyllic rural landscape. The rolling fields on the village road, beautiful farmhouses, rapids and lake landscapes, and the Luhalahti church perched on top of the hill will entice you to stop and admire the view.
