The village of Vatula is located in the southwest corner of the city of Ikaalinen, approximately 12 km from the city center, on the shores of Lake Kyrösjärvi and next to the Vatulanharju Ridge.
Vatula is known for its beautiful scenery and great outdoor activities. The village has a town outdoor recreation center and the ridge area has skiing and orienteering trails. Ikaalisten Vesi Oy gets its good water from the Vatula water intake.
The history of the village is particularly notable for the operations of the reserve company of the Turku Sniper Battalion in the late 1800th century (which is still remembered by a section of cobblestoned street, among other things).
The village's operators are the Village Association Vatulan Nykäys ry and the hunting club Vatulan Metsäveikot ry.
The nearest elementary school is about 6 km away in Kilvakkala. The middle school and upper secondary school are in the center of Ikaalinen.
