Scrap cars – Vehicle transfers

The municipality is obliged to ensure the removal of an end-of-life vehicle within its area if the owner of the end-of-life vehicle neglects his obligation under the Waste Act to deliver the vehicle to an appropriate reception site.

Privately However, the municipality will only remove a scrap vehicle from a yard, storage area or other special area intended for private use to the owner of the private area. upon a reasoned and written request.

Transfer of an abandoned vehicle

The municipality will also arrange for the transfer within its area if it is obvious, based on the value, condition and other externally observable factors, that the vehicle has been abandoned.

If you have received a vehicle transfer notice

• The transfer notice is sent to the last owner of the vehicle registered in the vehicle registration register or to another known owner and holder.
• The owner/holder has at least seven days to move the vehicle to an appropriate location or arrange for the vehicle to be scrapped themselves.

• If the owner or holder does not take care of the vehicle's transfer, the city will make a decision to transfer the vehicle to storage. The vehicle can be picked up from storage within 30 days.

Compensation for transfer costs

The owner or holder of the vehicle is obliged to reimburse the authority for the costs incurred in arranging for the transfer, relocation, storage and management of the vehicle.

If the owner or holder of the vehicle is unknown

The transfer notice is left in a visible place in the vehicle.

Notification may be made by posting it on the notice board of the municipality concerned for at least 30 days, as provided in the Act on Public Notices (34/1925).
