Comprehensive special education

Tevaniemi  The school has two comprehensive special education teachers.Special education is provided three days a week.. A comprehensive special education teacher can, for example, offer simultaneous teaching in classes as a working partner of a class teacher or teach a smaller group in a separate space. In primary education, the work of a comprehensive special education teacher focuses primarily on upper secondary education, i.e. strengthening reading and writing skills.

The comprehensive special education teacher surveys the support needs of students in general education classes and, if necessary, conducts various screening tests for the entire group. The special education teacher works in close cooperation with the class teacher and offers support by consulting and seeking solutions. Depending on the situation and need, the comprehensive special education teacher participates in parent evenings, student meetings and is involved in evaluation.
