Data protection in early childhood education

We comply with the provisions of the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (EU 679/2016).

Personal data is used to organize, implement and bill for early childhood education, preschool education and open early childhood education for children. The data is stored in the early childhood education administration information system and the mobile recording and communication system. The system is also used to create and store pedagogical documents, as well as decisions on enhanced and special support.

According to sections 68 and 70 of the Early Childhood Education Act 540/2018, municipalities are obliged to store information regarding early childhood education in the Early Childhood Education Data Repository (Varda) as of 1 January 2019. Varda is a national data repository that contains information on early childhood education providers, early childhood education facilities, children in early childhood education, children's guardians and early childhood education personnel.
