Climate change – an expression of concern for the cultural heritage of forests

The Kalevala Women's Climate Walk continues. From the steps of the Parliament Building (16.5.) we will move to the Rahkola courtyard for the Ikaalinen Park Philosophy event on Thursday 17.7.2025 at 13.50. We have appointed Päivi Hirvonen from the Cultural Cooperative Uulusta as the leader of the climate walk. We hope that all those who are enthusiastic about the walk and their friends will join us. The Kalevala Women want to show that people's thinking and opinions can be influenced by means of tradition, culture and art.

Sustainable development is part of our values. We want to spread the message of moderation in the midst of an accelerating consumer culture. We want to take our responsibility to preserve old forests for our grandchildren, so that they can sit on the mounds, make bark boats and pick berries.

The Kalevala Women's League is a prominent advocate for cultural heritage in its anniversary year (90 years).

The creator of Ilmastoitku is folk singer Eila Hartikainen. Feel free to join us! Sing or listen. You can ask the board members for more information and get the text with sheet music if you wish. We may even practice before the big day.
