Ikaalinen build services that are renewed, bring vitality and recognition through a cultural tourism strategy

The city of Ikaalinen will receive a resource-wise cultural tourism strategy that strengthens commercial and international growth. It will be implemented in connection with the 2024 cultural events. It will also benefit from various funding applications for creative industries.

A large part of Ikaalinen's events have been organized by volunteers. As a whole, they have become a significant attraction for the city. The synergy benefits of different actors have not been sufficiently utilized, productized, and marketing focused.

Now, efforts are being made to utilize the synergies between cultural and event industry players more systematically. The Cultural Tourism Strategy provides the foundation for this work.

The Pirkanmaa Regional Council granted the Development Company Ikaalisten Spa City Ltd. Fall in love with Ikaalis! Ikaalinen! project EUR 73. The funding is granted from the Supporting Sustainable Growth and Vitality of Regions (AKKE) appropriation. The project will last until April 921, 30.4.2024.

The project is related to the Pirkanmaa Cooperation Document (2022), the Pirkanmaa Regional Programme 2022–2025 and the smart specialisation strategy. The project will improve the well-being of residents and vibrant cultural activities outside the central region of Pirkanmaa. International tourism can be developed through cooperation between tourism operators. Strengthening the attractiveness of creative industries, culture, events and art also has multiplier effects on the regional economy.
