VILLAGES ACROSS MUNICIPAL BORDERS development work starts in Ikaalisi

Ikaalisten Kehitys Oy and Tampere University of Applied Sciences TAMK have launched a new large-scale partnership project called Villages Across Municipal Boundaries. The project is of a Smart Villages collaboration project, which promotes the renewal and networking of rural communities across village, municipal and provincial borders.

The development work, which will last almost three years, will focus on the vitality of the villages: housing, employment and rural service developmentfor germinationThe work is being carried out in close cooperation with the City of Ikaalinen and several local actors.

The development work includes, among other things, pilots organized in villages, where new solutions are sought for rural housing, multi-channel services, and opportunities for work and self-employment are developed and tested.

The result is Smart Village operating models that aim to improve the availability of rural services and diversify the region's economy in a sustainable way.

The project is co-financed by the European Rural Development Fund.
The project period is 1.8.2024-31.7.2027
The main implementer is Ikaalisten Kylpyläkaupunki Oy, with the project partners being the City of Ikaalisten and TAMK.

The project has received funding from the Pirkanmaa ELY Centre from the European Rural Development Fund in the amount of 397,454.10 euros. The total costs of the main implementing company, Ikaalisten Kylpyläkaupunki Oy, are 245,100.00 euros and the self-financing share is 19,952.83 euros. The total costs of the city of Ikaalisten are 35,976.00 euros.
